Do you feel like you are in a WINTER RUT? The cold weather or lack of sunshine is getting you down? Did you know there are ways to combat this?
In today's MINDSET MAKEOVER FOCUS, I want to talk about how the winter has been (maybe?) crushing you and simple solutions you can use!
I grew up in the Northeast and spent 33 years dealing with winters-- I get it. You are stuck inside, getting sick all the time and generally just feeling down from the lack of sunshine. Did you know that mindset work includes self care and treatment? Here are some of my best WINTER mindset tips for you to try:
1. Take extra vitamin D (you can probably take more than you think!). You can easily have a doctor run the test for you (I did!) and you'll see that most people who live in a place where winter hits are vitamin D deficient. When I was tested, my levels were so low that I was on 50,000 IUDs a week for 8 weeks! WOW right? Now, when I'm in the US during winter months, I'll take 10,000 a week, either all at once or over the course of the week. Check with your doctor to see if this might work for you. I know it made me drastically happier (results will vary)!
2. Try a guided meditation where you can envision being somewhere warm, or a happy place for you. Did you know that 20 minutes of meditation can give you the same level of mental energy as 3 hours of sleep? THAT'S HUGE. Maybe meditation feels hard, or like your brain "won't stop"? Guess what? It's not supposed to! Meditation is basically breathing, something we rarely do deeply and with intention. Here's a quick 9 minute meditation I've been doing since 2006! 3. PEPPERMINT OIL! You guys, this stuff is like magic. If you aren't allergic to essential oils, I have personally found power in using them. My life changed when I started tapping into this plant power to help me change my state. Peppermint oil helped me heighten my overall vibration, calm my headaches (how I started using it) and generally gives me a pop of energy when I'm feeling low. The quality of essential oils is super important to their effectiveness. I learned this when the ones I bought at Whole Foods didn't work as well as the Young Living samples I got from a friend.
