My Self Worth Isn't Defined by a Number

Can I tell you the truth? > I don’t care about how many followers I have. <

My WInter mindset hacks (3).png

Meaning, I’m not actively concerned with the literal number that pops up on the screen when I open Facebook, Instagram or YouTube.

I feel like so many boutique owners get caught in the numbers trap.

>> “I got 20 new followers! I’m feeling great!”

>> “I only have X amount of followers so I’m not doing well.”

>> “I had a great day in sales so I feel really great about myself.”

>> “I didn’t have a great week in sales so now I feel really bad about myself.”

Now don’t get confused. Do I think you should celebrate your wins? Of course. I totally get excited when I see I’ve hit a new 100 or 1000 level!

What I don’t love is your mindset linked to these numbers. Especially when it’s a matter of a few here and there. “This is happening”— so I’m going to define how I feel based on that.

Not only is it bad mindset practice, it’s also contributing to the up and down of your boutique! Remember, what we think, we create. And when we think about how bad things are… we actively are creating more bad things/times. It’s a TRAP.

Do you feel your mood and self worth being defined by the numbers you see on the screen, in your bank account or even on the scale?? We’ve GOT to fix this (maybe not all at once) ASAP! The reason your growth is inconsistent is because your mindset is inconsistent.

Ready to change this? I’m ready for you to also! During the month of April, I’m leading a one of a kind LIVE course for women who are ready to transform in a major way. I’d love to see you there! Here’s the details: www.RetailMindsetMakeover.com

My $35,000 Plan

My $35,000 Plan

I only watch very specific television shows, and one of my favorites lately is ‘The Grinder’ on Fox. Rob Lowe (total hottie!) plays an actor who for many years was a famous TV lawyer, and now he’s returned home and works at his family’s real life law firm in Idaho. He never passed the bar, but his TV show antics seem to always work in real life.

Anyhow, the episode I watched last week was all about how he decided that to be able to solve the BIG case, he needed to get wrapped up in a side story. That the ‘side story’ would be able to distract him enough so he could connect the dots and figure out how to work the angles on the BIG case.

Of course this got me thinking about how my mindset practice is my FOREVER side story, helping me solve the issues that come up while running my coaching business. I spend between 1-4 hours A DAY on journaling, tapping, drowning myself in audios and reading. I’ve unlocked blocks I didn’t know I had, solved problems in my relationships with others, and gotten the clues to what’s holding me back from the next HUGE levels in my business (I hit $35k this month already. $40k is July’s goal!!)…

And now I’m helping others do the same. Last week on a call with a client, she said “I spoke to a total ideal client, but she probably can’t afford my $4,000 rates.” I immediately stopped her… 1. Because her rate is $5,000… and 2. Because she was putting her own limiting beliefs about money onto this woman she had talked to for 30 minutes.

I gave her the assignment to write down all the reasons she is capable of charging $5,000 and why someone would pay her $5,000. Guess what? Two days later she signed a $5,000 client!

In business, a person’s side story should ALWAYS be mindset work. Lots to do, do the mindset work first. Got nothing to do, do some mindset work.

So many coaches are throwing around the term "mindset work" but not telling you WHAT that MEANS or LOOKS LIKE! Let me be specific about what mine looks like so you get an idea of what it looks like for a $35k month:

I focus on ONE GOAL and became laser focused on that one goal.

I wrote the goal down every day— and the goal has a deadline.

>> My morning routine:
1. Wake up, be aware of how I feel.
Listen to Abraham Hicks good morning rampage.
Write down how I want to feel today.
2. Then move on to journaling around my goal. What it would feel like to have achieved the goal, what I would do when it happened, how I would act, and then I close my eyes and visualize myself with the results.
3. Then I listen to Steve Seibold’s positive self talk on self esteem and personal development. I kept myself around high vibe people and things.

>> During the day:
I’m aware of my thoughts and feelings. If something negative comes up, I stop, write it down and journal and tap about it. I also listen to more Abraham Hicks and subliminal messaging music.

>> Before Bed:
I go back to my ‘how I want to feel today’ notes and once again, focus on my goal and the feeling that the result of that goal is going to bring. I journal more, tap if I need to, and end the night in meditation. As I lay down in bed, I start to think about how much I appreciate everything around me: the bed, the air conditioning, the pillows… all of it. And I drift off to sleep with some gentle music.

Hope this helps YOU have a $35k month!!
xo, Emily
